Cons & Crew

Team Confusion attended Anime USA in Washington D.C., October 10-12, 2008. We all had a blast.

Friday, October 10
Friday was probably Team Confusion's busiest day. We started the day off with a good ol' Death Note cosplay. JeremiahBlade played Yagami Light, Bolingbroke played L, MisaKitty played Amane Misa, and Poison played Yagami Sayu.

After Death Note, we changed into our pirate costumes and prepared for our killer Pirate Party. Look below for details of Team Confusion hosted Pirate Parties. Over the course of our 3-hour party, we saw approximately 200 guests. Some stayed for just a few minutes, and others stayed the whole time. Near the end of the party we teamed up with the artists of Geist-Panik! for some cross-panel fun before our big Cabin Boy and Wench Auction. If you attended the Pirate Party and enjoyed yourself, we encourage you to send positive feedback to the staff at Anime USA.

We ended the evening with a Japanese Rope Bondage panel. It was a fascinating and informative panel, and we're glad to have taken the time for it. We encourage you to attend it next year if it's offered again.

Saturday, October 11
Saturday was Harry Potter cosplay day for Team Confusion. Bolingbroke played Harry Potter, MisaKitty played Tonks, JeremiahBlade played Remus Lupin, and Poison played Bellatrix Lestrange. MisaKitty kindly sewed JeremiahBlade and Bolingbroke beautiful robes. They looked awesome. Bolingbroke got mobbed by lots of fan girls. It was weird, but kind of expected.

At one point we sat in on a viewing of World Destruction. The bear fight was extremely cute -Kuma.

We were disappointed that the Rave got pushed so late due to Saturday's concert starting late. None of us could keep awake that late. Bolingbroke caught a portion of the BL Games panel and thought it was rather well put on. Good job, ladies.

Sunday, October 12
We wrapped our stay at Anime USA up with plenty of last minute shopping in Artist Alley and the Dealer Room. Bolingbroke bought cat ears and Poison bought awesome goggles. Both came in handy when we had to entertain ourselves and other comuters stuck in traffic on the way home.

PIRATE PARTY!

Team Confusion is committed to bringing the great tradition of pirate-themed parties to East Coast cons. We had a great time and spectacular showing at our Anime USA 2008 Pirate Party. If you're interested in Team Confusion bringing a pirate party to your con, drop the captain a line.

Here are the details:

Costumes: Interested parties are encouraged to pack their best (or worst, as the case may be) pirate outfits - eye-patches, bandannas, tunics, etc. (Costumes strongly encourages but not required. While supplies last, the Pirate Crew hands out eye patches to costumeless party-goers.)

Games and Contests:
Blackjack and other Poker - Bet and win gold coins!
Pirate Dice - Like in the movie... no betting souls, though. Gold coins and Pocky only.
Plank Sword Fights - We provide the plank and the foam swords and you provide the fun. First Mate Bolingbroke says betting is a must.
Treasure Hunt - Captain MisaKitty demands treasure. Help us scavenge the con for treasure and win a cool prize. Prizes at Anime USA 2008 included a hand crafted ring by Hitorione, a pound of chocolate gold coins from Ace, and 15 free pizza coupons from Kenneth.

Other Exciting Activities:
Beg, Steal, and Borrow - Every pirate starts with a little gold, but if you want to win the big bucks, then you're going to have to make more. Do what it takes to make the money, but don't get caught stealing or Jailer Jeremiah Blade will send you to party prison.
Escape from Jail - You got caught stealing didn't you? That's okay. Jalier JeremiahBlade is easily distracted by shiny things on wenches. When he's not looking, break out.
Wench & Cabin Boy Auction - During the party, the Pirate Crew will designate wenches and cabin boys for the auction. Each wench and cabin boy will promise to perform a certain boon for the person offering the biggest sum. Possible boons include, "I'll dance X number of dances with you," "I'll carry your piratey drink for the rest of the party," "I'll hang on your arm for as long as you don't annoy me," etc. Bid with gold.

Note Regarding Ninjas: Captain MisaKitty declares a one-day "truce" between pirates and ninjas. No pirate-ninja hostilities will be tolerated... so, we suppose that ninjas can come too. At Anime USA 2008, a ninja truly conquered on the plank. Can the pirates reclaim lost glory?

If you would like to join the Pirate Crew for future parties, contact Captain MisaKitty.
